Frequently Asked Questions
Can I overtighten the tension on my belt cleaner and damage the belt?
Yes, any cleaner can get overtightened. Technicians may think a little more tension helps cleaning efficiency, but it’s important to remember that tension is also a balancing act. Too much tension can cause tips or blades to wear out prematurely and may even damage the belt. Our goal at Flexco is top cleaning efficiency and long belt life. It’s important to follow recommendations found in our IOMs for any of our tensioner options (bolt, spring, or air). Before adding tension that exceeds Flexco specifications, please consult with Flexco technicians and/or engineering to make sure these adjustments are implemented in a way that protects the belt and the cleaner.
