What happens to plastic rollers in a hot or very cold environment?
Historically, plastic rollers expand and contract far more than steel rollers in a given environment.
To combat this expansion, 2 steps were taken:

The design of critical components takes into account the need for expansion.

The bearing housings are molded with a percentage? of glass fiber. This limits the expansion and contraction. It also adds to rigidity and accuracy.
Nylon rollers are designed to work at temperatures not exceeding 80 degrees celcius and not less -10 degrees celcius.
